International Cricket Council’s chief executive Dave Richardson could lead the Anti-Corruption and Security team during their next visit when they are expected to submit a report on the Bangladesh Premier League match-fixing saga,’ said the officials.
Baring any dramatic change in the tour schedule, a four-member delegation comprising two ACSU officials, Richardson and media and communication manager Sami-ul-Hasan will arrive on August 13 to submit the much-awaited report.
‘Though it is still not confirmed, we are expecting the ICC chief executive and the media and communication manager,’ BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury told reporters on Wednesday.
The match-fixing scandal rocked the country’s cricket ever since former national skipper Mohammad Ashraful confessed his involvement during the second edition of the BPL.
The Board suspended Ashraful from all sorts of cricket after his confession.
BCB president Nazmul Hasan hinted that the report will be disclosed to the media in front of the ICC officials.
The report will determine the future of Ashraful along with two or three cricketers, who are also suspect.
‘Because they are going to stay for more than one day you [media] will know everything,’ Nazmul told reporters.
Nazmul added that the ICC T20 venue inspection team will arrive on August 17.
Their [venue inspection team] major interest will be the Cox Bazar and Sylhet venues,’ said Nazmul. ‘We will also keep them updated regarding the alternative venues at Fatullah and BKSP.’
Bangladesh will host the ICC World Twenty20 from March 16 to April 6 next year.
