A group of seven core development partners along with ICDDR,B officials participated in a signing ceremony documenting their continued partnership, at ICDDR,B’s Mohakhali campus recently.
The Core Donors’ Group (CDG) was established in 2007 to coordinate donor funding to ICDDR,B in consistence with the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness. The CDG members providing unrestricted support to the Centre include Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID), Government of Bangladesh (GoB), Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN), Swedish International Development Cooperative Agency (Sida), Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and Department for International Development, UK (DFID).
The objective of the CDG is to ensure and strengthen cooperation between the core donors and ICDDR,B in developing the capacity and supporting the resources of the Centre in advancing its vision and mission, and in achieving the goals of its strategic plan. The CDG also ensures that cooperation between the donors and ICDDR,B is based on a shared commitment to the values and principles expressed in ICDDR,B’s vision and mission, and mutual respect for the autonomy, values and principles of all the core donors. The signing ceremony establishes the guidelines to effective partnership between ICDDR,B and its core donors.
Participating in the signing ceremony on behalf of the Core Donors Group were Ms Rehana Khan, Senior Programme Officer-Sida; Ms Hilary Syme, First Secretary (Development), Canadian High Commission/CIDA; Ms Marjan Wind, First Secretary (Health)-EKN; Ms Corinne Huser, Deputy Country Director-SDC; Ms Shelia Ryan, Consultant-DFID; Ms Jennifer Finch, Senior Sector Manager – Australian High Commission; Mr. Shahrukh Safi, Senior Programme Officer, AusAID. ICDDR,B officials included Board of Trustees Chairman, Dr Tim Evans, Executive Director Dr Alejandro Cravioto and Dr Ishtiaque A Zaman, Head, External Relations and Institutional Development.
