Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority has further extended the deadline for aspirants to submit applications for getting licences to set up insurance company under the new rules.
An IDRA press release on Wednesday said that the authorities have extended the deadline to April 30. Previously the last date to submit the applications was April 15.
The regulatory body made the decision after the Bangladesh Insurance Association had requested them to extend the deadline for a smooth registration process.
Amid the political unrest, it could be harder for the insurance companies to be registered with the IDRA by April 15, BIA president Sheikh Kabir Hossain recently told New Age.
The IDRA had published advertisements on February 20 inviting applications from people willing to set up new insurance companies, setting March 31 the deadline.
