International Master Abu Sufian Shakil has set his eyes in two tournaments in India in the coming weeks to pursue his dream of becoming the country’s sixth Grand Master.
Shakil became IM two years ago but could not attain any GM norm so far as he only participated in a handful of international tournaments. He will take part in a tournament in Bhubaneswar in the last week of May before featuring in another competition in Mumbai early next month.
Shakil is confident that he can achieve a norm or two from the upcoming tournaments.
`In the Bhubaneswar tournament, players with 2200 rating points or above will play while the required rating for the Mumbai tournament is a little low,’ Shakil told New Age on Tuesday.
‘It will be a little tough for me at Bhubaneswar. But I will seriously give it a shot in Mumbai,’ he said.
If he accomplishes any norm in India, Shakil said he will also participate in a tournament in Virginia, USA in the last week of June.
