The National Board of Revenue (NBR) got approval of the Finance Minister AMA Muhith Wednesday on its proposal regarding extension of time for individuals’ income tax returns by another month, until November 30. The deadline for tax returns is scheduled to expire today (Thursday).
Earlier, the NBR extended the time until October 31, from September 30.
Officials said the board will issue an order on time extension of tax returns today (Thursday).
Following request of the trade bodies and business associations, including apex trade body, Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the NBR decided to extend the time.
Officials said around 60 per cent taxpayers could not complete their tax returns due to political programmes and public holidays for Eid-ul Azha and Durga Puja. Considering problems of the taxpayers the Finance Minister has agreed to extend the time further by a month.
