Opening batsman Tamim Iqbal suffered an injury scare on Tuesday while he was fielding for Duronto Rajshahi during his side’s Bangladesh Premier League match against Sylhet Royals.
Tamim left the field in sheer pain after he was hit by the ball during the 15th over of Royals’ innings and could not take any further part in the game. He was later taken to a nearby diagnostic centre for an X-ray which however revealed no fracture.
‘I am still feeling huge pain,’ Tamim told New Age over phone. ‘Though the initial X-ray did not show any fracture, I am not sure about the extent of the damage.’
Bangladesh Cricket Board physician Debashish Chowdhury said that they will take Tamim for further investigation today if the pain persists.
‘Normally it takes two or three days for this kind of injury to be healed but we will not take any risk if he still feels the pain after that,’ said Chowdhury.
Tamim added that with the present situation it is unlikely for him to play Duronto’s next game, against Khunla Royal Bengals on Friday.
