Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal suffered an injury scare on Monday when he was struck by a yorker from young pacer Taskin Ahmed in his ankle off the first ball he faced in the net at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium. Tamim limped off the field and did not take any further part in the training. The gravity of his injury could not be known immediately. Tamim said he will wait for the night before assessing his condition.
‘I can’t say anything at the moment. I will see how it goes tonight [Monday night] and only then will be able to tell if the injury can have a toll,’ Tamim told reporters.
Tamim has a long history of freak injuries which often ruled him out of international matches. He missed the Asia Cup in February-March for a stiff neck.
The left-hander is the part of the squad that will leave home for West Indies on August 13.
Bangladesh will play two Tests, three one-day internationals and Twenty20 International in the month-long tour in the Caribbean.
