The five-day Second International Furniture and Décor Fair-2012 and Second National Door, Kitchen Cabinet Fair-2012 begin in the capital on September 12.
Communicare Dot Events managing partner MA Samad told a press briefing at the National Press Club on Sunday that a total of 50 companies would take part in the fair.
Communicare Dot Events and Bangladesh Furniture Importers Association will jointly organise the fair at Bangabadhu International Conference Centre.
Samad said 15 companies selling furniture imported from China, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia, 30 companies selling local furniture and five more companies that make only doors and kitchen cabinets would exhibit their products in the fair.
About purpose of the fair, Bangladesh Furniture Importers Association president Mir Nizamuddin said the customers would be made familiar with latest designs of foreign furniture and quality of local furniture.
He said, ‘We need to introduce foreign medium density fibre board-made furniture because they could reduce tree felling in the country.’
New Age, Radio Today, Banik Barta and ATN Bangla are media partners of the fair which will remain open from 10:00am to 9:00pm. The entry is free.
Bangladesh Furniture Importers Association secretary Mohammed Ali and Communicare Dot Events partner Iqbal Khan, among others, attended the press briefing.
