The Islamic Foundation today released sehri and iftar timing for Dhaka city dwellers for the 2022 Holy Ramadan, the lunar month of self-purification through fasting and abstinence, which is expected to start from April 3, if the new moon is sighted on Bangladesh sky that day.
Dhaka residents are expected to take their sehri for the first Ramadan at 4:27 am on April 3 and break their fast at 6:19pm, according to Islamic Foundation.
The sehri time for the last day of Ramadan was fixed at 3:58 am on May 2 and iftar at 6:31pm, it added.
The sehri and iftar times for other divisions and districts will be published by the Islamic Foundation’s respective offices.
Fasting during Ramadan is one of the five obligatory pillars of Islam, along with the Muslim declaration of faith, daily prayer, annual charity — known as “zakat” — and performing the Hajj pilgrimage.
