International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) celebrated World Food Day 2024 with a special program organized by the College of Agricultural Sciences at the university campus on Wednesday.
The event featured Professor Dr Md Abdul Latif, vice-chancellor of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, as the chief guest.
Distinguished guests included Kun Li, head of partnership at the Communication and Reports (PCR) Unit of the World Food Program, and Professor Selina Nargis, treasurer of IUBAT.
The program was presided over by Professor Abdur Rab, vice-chancellor of IUBAT.
Special guests included Professor Rezaul Karim Siddique, general secretary of the Bangladesh Safe Agriculture Food Initiative Foundation, Professor Dr M Salahuddin M Chowdhury, dean of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Md Khorshed Alam NDC, executive director of the Bangladesh Institute of Research and Training on Applied Nutrition and Professor Dr Mohammad Shoaib, a member of Bangladesh Food Safety (Food Industry and Production).
The keynote address was delivered by Professor Dr Md Shahidullah Mia, dean of IUBAT’s College of Agricultural Sciences.
The event saw active participation from heads of various departments, faculty members, current and former students, and administrative staff.
In addition to the seminar, students from IUBAT’s College of Agricultural Sciences organized a food fair featuring a wide array of traditional dishes, showcasing the cultural richness of Bangladesh.
The celebration aimed to highlight the importance of the right to safe and nutritious food for a better life and a prosperous future, while raising awareness about food security and nutrition for all. – Press release
