Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited have been placed in Group A along with Indian football giants Mohunbagan AC, Kolkata Mohammedan Sporting Club and Lazong FC of Meghalaya in the 118th IFA Shield Football Tournament. IFA Shield, the world’s fourth oldest football tournament, starts on January 29 with Sheikh Jamal facing Mohunbagan in the opening match at the Barasat stadium, Kolkata.
The Dhanmondi-based outfit will play their second match against Kolkata Mohammedan on February 2 and they will face Lazong FC in their last group match on February 5.
Eight teams split into two groups of four are participating in the tournament. Group B is made up of East Bengal, Bosang FC of South Korea, Gelang FC of Singapore and Kolkata United FC.
The top two teams from each group will move into the semi-finals and the final match will take place on February 11.
