Miscreants gunned down Kabir Hossain Palash, vice president of Jessore districts Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, at Civil Court intersection near Jessore Press Club at around 6:35 pm Monday.
Police said 5/6 persons riding on two motorbikes shot Palash from point blank range while he was having tea with some friends. Another JCD activist Tentu, 28, was hurt by a bomb hurled by the miscreants.
Palash was rushed to the Jessore Medical College Hospoital where doctors declared him dead.
The BNP has called a day-long general strike in Jessore for Wednesday in protest of the murder.
