An activist of Juba League has been shot dead at Chandipur under Rajpara Police Station in the city this afternoon. The deceased was identified as Sarwar Hossain Babu, 40, son of Abdur Razzaque, was reportedly shot dead by some of his rivals. ABM Rezaul Karim, Officer-in-Charge of Rajpara Police Station, told BSS that previous enmity over establishing supremacy and contractor works are believed to be the reason behind the murder.
He says, all on a sudden, the attackers opened fire on him indiscriminately at around 5.15 pm and one of the bullets pierced his abdomen wounding him grievously. The attackers fled the scene before the neighbours arrival.
In critical condition, Babu was immediately taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where the attending doctors declared him dead.
OC Rezaul Karim adds the body was kept at the hospital morgue for post mortem.
