Jonakir Alo wins best director award
Khalid Mahmud Mithu’s second feature film Jonakir Alo won the best director award at the Brasov International Film Festival (BRIFF), held between September 12 and 14 in Romania. A production of Impress Telefilms, Jonakir Alo stars Gazi Rakayet, Bidya Sinha Saha Mim, Emon and Kalyan. The film revolves around a woman who dreams of working for children’s welfare, and is torn between adopting a child and her responsibility as a daughter-in-law of a conservative family.
The film was screened at the festival on September 13 with Romanian subtitles and the awards ceremony was held on September 14.
In the festival, the best film award went to The Great Beauty, best lead male actor to Alex Pettyfer for Endless Love, best lead female actor to Keira Knightley for Anna Karenina, best screenplay to John Gatins for Flight, best cinematography to Danny Cohen for Les Misérables and audience award to Once Upon a Fish.
