The Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Friday alleged that prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy has got advance ‘information’ about rigging in the next general elections.
BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at a news briefing at the party central office said the comments made by Joy about the results of next elections gave a broad hint about conspiracy with the
elections.
He said BNP condemned it and expressed concern over such ‘information’ stated by Joy.
Recently, Joy who lives in America and came to Dhaka on July 16, at a Juba League function said he has ‘information’ that Awami League would win the next general elections.
Rizvi said Joy’s another remarks that BNP senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman had wanted to kill his mother Sheikh Hasina in the grenade attack on August 21, 2004 are nothing but falsehood made out of political vendetta.
He said people believed that August 21 grenade attack was the consequence of a blueprint by local and international conspirators to bring Awami League to power. The incident was staged to push the then BNP government into an awkward position.
Rizvi termed ‘untrue, fabricated and beyond common sense’ the statement of Joy made about Tarique Rahman.
BNP leaders Barkat Ullah Bulu, Abdul Latif Jony, Asadul Karim Shahin, Shamimur Rahman Shamim and Rafiq Sikder were present at the news briefing.
