Rawshan meets the party chief
The Jatiya Party on Monday announced a two-day protest programme against the “detention” of its chairman Hussain Muhammad Ershad. The party alleged that Ershad was detained by the RAB in the name of treatment. The RAB picked up Ershad from his Baridhara residence on December 12 and took him to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka Cantonment.
“The JP will hold demonstrations across the country on Tuesday and bring out processions across country, besides submitting memorandum to all district administrations on Wednesday,” said JP secretary general ABM Ruhul Amin Howlader while announcing the programme on the occasion of “Victory Day” at the Banani office. Howlader also made it clear that the JP would launch a strong movement if the government fails to release the party chief soon. Ershad’s press secretary, Sunil Subho Roy, told reporters that Ershad’s admission to the CMH have raised doubts as the JP chairman was apparently in good health.
Rawshan Ershad, wife of Ershad and Presidium member of JP, on Monday visited Ershad at the Combined Military Hospital, where she stayed for more than an hour.
Meanwhile, Bobby Hajjaj, the advisor of the former president, left the country on Monday evening, according to the sources. But it was not clear which country he has left for and why.
