The parliamentary standing committee on finance ministry in a meeting on Tuesday recommended taking immediate steps to bring back stability in the stock market.
It also recommended offloading shares of state-owned entities immediately to maintain balance between the demand and supply of shares in the market.Chaired by committee president AHM Mostafa Kamal, the meeting was attended, among others, by its members finance minister AMA Muhith, Md Ali Ashraf, AKM Maidul Islam, MA Mannan and Golam Dastogir Gazi.
The meeting recommended reducing bank interest rate and expansion of tax holiday facility to boost up investment.
It also suggested continuation of government support for export-oriented industries such as garment and shipbuilding industries.
