11 more die, 2,242 hospitalised in 24 hours

A total of 120 people died of dengue in the past 22 days of July, which was the highest death toll in a single month in 23 years keeping nine days in hand since 2000 when the government started keeping records of dengue.
Earlier in 2022, November marked highest 114 death toll in a month when the country witnessed highest 281 reported deaths, according to the official data.
At least 11 more people died of dengue and 2,242 others were admitted to the health facilities across the country in the past 24 hours ending 8:00am on Saturday, said a press release of the Directorate General of Health Services.
The mosquito-borne viral disease has killed 167 people and forced 30,685 to admit to the hospitals across the country so far this year.
Dhaka city alone accounted 61.54 per cent hospitalisation and 78.44 per cent deaths of the total of this year.
At least 22,707 or over 74 per cent of this year’s hospitalisation was reported in the past 22 days of July, said the DGHS release.
According to data, 566 dengue patients were hospitalised in January, 166 in February, 111 in March, 143 in April, 1,036 in May and 5,956 in June.
At least six people died of dengue in January, three in February, two in April, two in May and 34 in June.
No deaths were reported in March, according to the data.
On Saturday, at least 6,656 dengue patients, including 3,839 in Dhaka city were undergoing treatment at public and private health facilities in the country.
