Renowned singer Kabir Suman was scheduled to perform in Dhaka for the first time in nearly 13 years on October 15, 18, and 21 and tickets for all three dates had already sold out.
But yesterday, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) stated that because the location is a Key Point Installation, they had not granted clearance from their part for the event to take place there (KPI).
“The Bangladesh National Museum is a Key Point Installation, and this is why we did not grant permission for the event”, said DMP Commissioner MD Shafiqul Islam.
MD Shafiqul Islam had also informed, as of yesterday, that the organisers of the event had not applied for permission to use any other venue.
The event will now take place in the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), according to the organizers. The Additional Commissioner of DMP, AKM Hafiz Akter, also corroborated the news, telling multiple media outlets that permission will be granted.
The popular solo album “Tomake Chai” by Suman will celebrate its 30th year of release during the concert.
At the three-day musical festival, the renowned singer will perform Bangla Khayal and current Bengali songs.
