The presence of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad in Singapore for medical check up at the same time has given rise to a speculation that they might have talks on election issues there. However, insiders in both parties dismissed the possibility of such talks, saying both the party chiefs are in Singapore for medical check up only. Khaleda and Ershad will both take medical advices from the Mount Elizabeth Hospital.
Jatiya Party chief Ershad went to Singapore on June 10 and he is scheduled to return home on Tuesday night, party’s Press and Political Secretary Sunil Shubho Roy told UNB on Monday. Ershad is also accompanied by Rowshan Ershad and their son Rahagir Almahi Saad.
Khaleda Zia left here for Singapore on Sunday night for medical treatment.
The BNP chairperson’s family members and personal staff are accompanying her. She is expected to return home on June 24.
Earlier, on February 19, Khaleda had also gone to Singapore for the treatment of her knee, throat and tooth complications.
