BNP chairperson and opposition leader Khaleda Zia went to Savar on Thursday afternoon and extended her condolence to the people who lost their dear and near ones and who got injured in the building collapse incident that took place on Wednesday morning. The former premier witnessed the trail of devastations caused by the eight-storey building collapse near Savar bus stand and visited Enam Medical Collage Hospital to see those who are undergoing treatment there.
Khaleda Zia along with her party’s senior leaders including Moudud Ahmed, Mahbubur Rahman, Abdul Moeen Khan, ASM Hannan Shah, Abdul Mannan, Barkat Ullah Bulu, Fazlul Haque Milon and Khairul Kabir Khokan went to Savar.
Following the building collapse incident, Khaleda Zia who is also the chief of the 18-party coalition had withdrawn the nationwide hartal on Wednesday which was part of the 36-hour general strike that started from Tuesday morning.
Earlier, on Wednesday Khaleda Zia sent a three-member delegation headed by ASM Hannan Shah to the spot for extending her party supports to the rescue operation.
Seeking eternal peace of the departed souls, BNP held a doa mehfil and hoisted black flags atop all party offices across the country and kept national and party flags at half-mast for national mourning.
