Masses including leaders and activists of different organisations laid siege to the Khulna deputy commissioner office for two hours on Sunday under the banner of the Khulna Cultural Development Committee. Later, the KCDC leaders submitted a memorandum to the prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, through DC Mesbah uddin, demanding construction of the Shilpakala Academy Complex and installation of a full-fledged TV station in Khulna before the victory day on December 16, 2013.
The KCDC convener, Swapan Guho, while addressing the programme, from 10:00am to 12:00pm, said the PM directed the authorities concerned in a meeting in 2011 to take steps for implementation of these two projects as soon as possible, but the authorities were not active in this regard.
The Khulna city BNP president, Nazrul Iskam Manzu, and also the lawmaker of Khulna–2 constituency, said the ruling party was too busy to fulfill the people’s demands.
The BNP would fulfill the demands within the shortest possible time if they would be elected in the upcoming national election, he added.
KCC mayor Moniruzzaman Moni, Khulna press club president Liakat Ali and Khulna Awami League general secretary Mizanur Rahman Mizan, addressed the programme, among others.
