Leaders of Greater Khulna Development Action Coordination Committee submitted a memorandum to the prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, through deputy commissioner of Khulna Mesbah Uddin on Thursday, pressing their 18-point demand.
The memorandum submission was a part of the programme of an intensified movement as announced by the coordination committee earlier on Tuesday at a press briefing to press home its demands including establishment of a separate ministry for protecting the world’s largest mangrove forest Sundarbans and conserve its biodiversity.
The committee will stage a sit-in on September 14 from 10:00am to 12 noon at the Picture Palace cinema hall intersection.
The committee president, Sheikh Ashrafuzzaman, handed over the memorandum to the deputy commissioner.
He was accompanied among others by Khulna CPB leader Feroze Ahmed, president of Khulna Divisional Press Club Federation Liakat Ali, president of Khulna Press Club Mokbul Hossain Mintu and senior vice-president of the committee Abdul Mannan.
