Some 30 diagnostic centers of the Khulna Metropolitan City are running their business without licence because of dillydally of the health department in issuing licence following application in this regard. The health department officials, however, alleged that the diagnostic centers did not maintain the rules and regulations of the health department. The Director of Khulna Health Garden, Khandaker Ahsanullah, said he was running his clinic maintaining all the rules set by the health department but the department did not issue the licence without showing any valid reason.
The owner of Amanullah Diagnostic Center, Dr Amanullah, alleged that he applied for the licence two years ago but still he did not get it and the authorities did not show any reason for not issuing the licence.
The owner of Labtech Diagnostic Center, Ujjal Kumar Kundu, made the similar allegation against the health department.
The Khulna division health department in-charge, Dr Mamun Parvez, told New Age that he would look into the allegation and find out the reasons for not issuing licenses for these diagnostic centers.
‘Health department does not encourage mushroom growth of diagnostic centers as most of them do not maintain the guidelines in running business and providing services to the patients,’ he added.
