Bangladesh national football team’s Dutch head coach Lodewijk de Kruif expressed his satisfaction after observing some new strikers in action in the ongoing Super Cup.
de Kruif was hopeful that he will have a lot more options of forwards at his disposal.
The 44-year old Dutchman and his assistant Rene Koster will leave Dhaka tonight and are expected to return before the national camp gets underway from July 1.
‘Before the Nepal [AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers] tour, [Shakhawat] Rony was my only choice in the front line. But there are some other strikers here in the list. It will make our attack more strong,’ said de Kruif to reporters at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday.
de Kruif watched eight matches of the Super Cup in the last four days and he witnessed the national players closely ahead of the SAFF Championship which is scheduled to be held in Nepal in September.
‘The Super Cup gave us a good chance to assess the players before deciding on the final squad. The final squad might be between 30 to 35 players. The Bangladesh Football Federation has provided us a 33-member list, but we will add some new faces,’ de Kruif added. ‘Fitness is a concern, as fitness needs to be improved and I have had a positive discussion with the BFF president [Kazi Salahuddin] about hiring a trainer,’ said the Dutch coach.
