Lankan cricketers arrive
Sports Reporter
The Sri Lanka cricket team arrived here yesterday to play two Tests and a tri-nation one-day series.
Mahela Jayawardene’s men landed at the Zia International Airport more than two hours after their scheduled arrival was delayed due to heavy fog in the city.
This is the Lankans second trip after 2006 when the Tigers beat them in a one-dayer in Bogra. However they have won all ten Tests played between the two sides.
The visitors come into the series without having played a Test since August 11 when they defeated India 2-1 in the Test series, thanks to mystery spinner Ajantha Mendis, who destroyed the much-vaunted Indian batting line-up.
They kick off the tour with a three-day warm-up match against a local selection at the BKSP from December 21.
Then they embark on the two-match Test series starting with the six-day affair that starts from December 26 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium while the second Test begins in Chittagong on January 3.
After the Tests, they play a tri-nation series that also involves Zimbabwe from January 10.
