The Sri Lankan High Commission in Dhaka has assured the Bangladesh Cricket Board that its cricket team would participate in the tour of Bangladesh later this month irrespective of the country’s political situation, BCB officials said on Tuesday. BCB director Mahbub Anam and acting chief executive officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury met the Sri Lankan High Commissioner at his office and assured him of fool-proof security for the visiting Sri Lankan team, according to BCB media committee chairman Jalal Yunus.
‘The Sri Lankan High Commission is very positive. They assured us that the tour will be on despite the political protest,’ Jalal said.
The BCB’s chief security officer Hossain Imam said on Tuesday that members of Bangladesh cricket’s governing body had also met officers of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, including AIG Shahidul Haque.
Imam said that the DMP reassured them that they will fulfill all the requirements during the 2014 ICC World Twenty20.
