Bangladesh batsman Liton Das asserted that he is not losing sleep over his recent bad patch with the bat as he is confident of overcoming it shortly.
The 28-year-old performed dismally in the recently concluded three-match one-day international series against Ireland, as he could manage 0, 21, and 35 at their den.
Earlier, he failed to prove his worth in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League, as he finished with only four runs in the only match he played for the Kolkata Knight Riders.
The wicketkeeper-batsman was also poor with his gloves during the match against Delhi Capitals, as he missed two crucial stumpings and his team lost the game, which saw him get sidelined for the following games of the franchise before he left for personal reasons, ending his short maiden season of the IPL.
‘You can’t play better cricket every day. Sometimes you will play well, and sometimes you won’t. In fact, I am not worried that way,’ said Liton at an award ceremony organised by the Bangladesh Sports Press Association in a city hotel.
‘However, I will keep training, and let’s see what happens,‘ he added.
He further vowed to turn the tables against Afghanistan when they take on the touring side in the one-off Test scheduled to be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium from June 14 to 18.
Bangladesh, who played just a single Test against the Afghans until now, suffered a crushing 224-run defeat in that match in September 2019.
‘We usually play to win, and always aim to be triumphant.’
The right-hander refused to say anything when his attention was drawn to their preparation for the forthcoming ICC World Cup in India this year.
‘World Cup is a long way to go; maybe we are going to start a camp tomorrow [today].’
Liton won the ‘Sportsperson of the Year 2022’ and the ‘Cricketer of the Year’ awards in the Kool-BSPA award ceremony, for which he was feeling ecstatic.
‘Feeling really great. If we are awarded like this regularly based on our performance, it will inspire us in the future,’ he concluded.
