The low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal has now turned into a well-marked low pressure, and could intensify further, the Met office said today.
A bulletin of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said, “The low-pressure area over the Southeast Bay and adjoining south Andaman Sea has intensified into a well-marked low at midnight last night over the same area. It is likely to intensify further.”
The Indian Meteorological Department in its report last night said, “It is likely to intensify into a depression on May 9 over the same region and further into a cyclonic storm over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of east central Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea on May 10.”
The bulletin also said it was likely to recurve gradually and move north-northeastwards towards the Bangladesh-Myanmar coasts.
