All-rounder Mahmudullah said on Sunday that he wants to do well against England in their forthcoming home series and the whole Bangladesh team is eager to show their transformation of mentality
Mahmudullah has fond memories against the English side as his stylish century paved the way for Tigers to grab a historic 15-run win against them during the ICC World Cup cricket during the last year.
The win helped Tigers reach the quarter final stage of the World Cup for the first time and instilled so much confidence that they later won three consecutive series at home against cricketing giants Pakistan, India and South Africa.
The graceful batsman said that he is eyeing to make a century against the Englishmen in Test format as well to help Tigers turn their fortune in this format.
England and Australia are only two international teams that have hundred per cent winning records against Tigers in Tests with the former winning all the eight matches.
‘Naturally there is a dream of scoring a century against them after the ODI [hundred],’ Mahmudullah told reporters at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium. ‘I am not interested to elaborate further regarding my personal goals.
‘At the moment we are focusing on our fitness as we want to move forward step by step,’ he said.
Tigers are currently going through a strength conditioning camp as part of preparation for the series against England, who are scheduled to arrive here on September 30.
An intense fitness training module is followed for developing the strength and endurance of national cricketers, who played their last Test match more than a year ago.
Mahmudullah said that they are eagerly waiting for the series that consists of two Test matches and three one-day internationals as they are confident considering their performance during the last two to three years.
‘We want to let everyone know regarding our changed attitude.
‘During the start of the camp we discussed that we had really worked hard in the last two to three years.
‘Everyone is eager to play in the series and taking preparation to do well as we are hopeful to complete the series well,’ he said.
Mahmudullah scored two half centuries against England during their last home series in 2010 that the visitors won respectively by 181 runs and nine wickets.
Mahmudullah scored 1506 runs in 27 Test matches with an average of 31.37 runs that includes one hundred and 12 fifties.
