Main accused in Mizaur murder case arrested

Natore: Abdul Awal Rajan, one of the two accused of killing Lokmanpur college teacher Mizanur Rashid, was arrested on Thursday.
Mizanur died in BSMMU Hospital in Dhaka on October 24 after being wounded in an attack by Rajan and Asif Ali on October 12 as he protested at the harassment of girls.
Additional superintendent of police in Natore Md Nasirul Islam said the investigation officer of the case Abdur Ramin had arrested Rajan at Chakrampur in the district town in the evening. He said Rajan was being interrogated.
Rajan had been in hiding since the attack on Mizanur, the police said. Asif Ali, the other accused, was arrested at Kanaikhali on October 20.
Mizanur’s brother Mamunur Rashid filed the case against Asif and Rajan on October 15.
Rajan is a resident of Begunia at Bagatipara and student of the Tomaltola Agriculture and Vocational College, and Asif is a resident of Bagatipara.
The police on Wednesday arrested Rajan’s uncle Ayez Uddin, 47, in this connection. – NewAge
