A man and his nephew were struck by lightning in Satarbari village of Longair union under Gafargaon upazila of Mymensingh yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Sohel Mondol, 40, a trader of pharmaceutical drugs, and his nephew Razib Mondol, 35 a rice trader in the village.
Quoting locals, Raju Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Pagla Police Station in Gafargoan, said Sohel and Razib died on the spot after being struck by lightning while they were repairing the banks of their pond that was overflowing due to heavy rain around 7:00am.
On information, police recovered the bodies and handed them over to their family members.
An unnatural death case was lodged with the police station in connection to the incident, said the OC.
