Leaders of Ganajagaran Mancha on Tuesday vowed to continue their gathering at Shahbagh Chattar in the capital until the announcement of verdict by the International War Crimes Tribunal-2 (ICT-2) against war crimes accused Jamaat Secretary General Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mojahid. “Our sit-in will continue until the announcement of judgment against Mojahid. After the verdict, we’ll announce our next course of action,” said convenor of Ganajagaran Mancha Imran H Sarkar. “All political parties should raise their voice against the verdict and join the people’s movement to put pressure on the government to appeal against the verdict,” he said.
The ICT-2 is set to pronounce verdict against Mojahid on Wednesday on charge of committing crimes against humanity during the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971.
About the verdict against former Jamaat chief Ghulam Azam, Imran H Sarkar said although ICT-1 announced the verdict against the mastermind of war crimes independently, the judgment did not fulfill people’s expectation.
