Noted writer and director Mannan Hira is seeking teenagers for his new film Ekatturer Khudiram, for which he has
received a national film donation.
‘I am preparing to start shooting it after Ramadan and hope that we will be able to release it before 16th December,’
Mannan Hira told New Age.The scriptwriter and director of the film also added that around 10 or 11 fresh faces will be seen in his film for which five or six boys aged between 14 to18 years and three or four girls aged between 18 to 20 years will be selected.
The story revolves around a small town during the war of independence in 1971, where students of a local school rehearse to stage a play called Khudiram for the school’s annual function. A few days before the show, an Urdu speaking teacher forced them to cancel their play and ordered them to replace it with an Urdu play. The students refused to follow his order.
‘During the war of independence, people of all ages and classes have played different roles. I wanted to depict the role of teenagers through this film,’ Hira said.
‘I have worked in two short films but this will be my first full length commercial film that I want to complete with my full dedication. I haven’t selected anyone from the film and television media yet because I am seeking fresh talents first. Interested boys and girls have been asked to contact me before the end of this month,’ Hira added.
Gorom Bhaater Golpo and 71er Rang Pencil were two short films that were directed by him.
