Kalabagan Krira Chakra skipper Mashrafee bin Murtaza will have some points to prove when his team will take on Mohammedan Sporting Club in their 10th round Dhaka Premier League match today.
Mashrafee was expecting a call from Mohammedan during the players’ draft having enjoyed a good relationship with the club, but they instead preferred for Mushfiqur Rahim. He was eventually picked by Kalabagan KC, a low-budget team that had very limited options available. Mashrafee repaid them by single-handedly taking them out of relegation zone through his batting and bowling.
He struck the quickest ever List ‘A’ century by a Bangladeshi batsman before taking six wickets in a match to give Kalabagan some relief going into the last two rounds of league’s first phase.
Though they have just eight points now, Kalabagan still stand with a chance to qualify for the Super League with wins in their last two matches.
Mohammedan appeared as the most consistent team of the league at the initial part before they lost their way somewhat with two defeats in their last two matches.
The club bolstered their squad with Indian all-rounder Bipul Sharma and Kalabagan roped in another Indian cricketer in Paresh Dogra for the match in Fatullah.
Legends of Rupganj will be looking forward for Soumya Sarkar to come up during their hours of need after their strength were severely dented by the recent suspension of their two key players.
Skipper Mosharraf Hossain and Mithun Ali were suspended for one-match through a controversial decision by match referee Samiur Rahman and Legends need someone to take their role against Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club with both the sides vying for a Super League spot.
Victoria Sporting Club will be looking forward to take a step closer to the Super League through beating Brothers Union as they are rejuvenated with their last win.
Victoria are currently on 11 points while Brothers are standing at eight points.
