If toss is anything to determine the success rate of a captain Mashrafee bin Murtaza will lag behind many others in Bangladesh’s cricket history. Mashrafee lost his fifth successive toss in Twenty20 format when his Omani counterpart Sultan Ahmed successfully called the coin during their ICC World Twenty20 qualifier in Dharamsala on Sunday. His poor run of toss form started with the Asia Cup match against Pakistan in Dhaka.
Mashrafee later lost a crucial toss in the final and three successive tosses in the ICC World Twenty20.
This was his 12th toss loss in 19 Twenty20 Internationals as captain.
Mashrafee also lost 17 tosses against 11 wins in one-day internationals. In Test he has a hundred percent record in toss as he won the only toss in his career as Test skipper.
Mashrafee’s most infamous toss defeat however came in an unofficial game at the Asian Games against Sri Lanka in 2014 when the result of the match was decided by the coin toss.
