A mild cold wave has started sweeping across the north and south western regions of the country and it may continue for a few days with temperatures falling by two to three degree Celsius on Friday, the Meteorological Department said. The mild cold wave, the second this season, lingering over Madaripur, Pabna, kustia and Jessore, may spread all over the country, the met office forecast said yesterday.
The sun, shrouded by thick veil of fog and mist, liberally aided by dust and smoke over the Dhaka city, pushed the mercury down to 13.8degree Celsius on Thursday, falling by 1.5 degree Celsius from Wednesday’s minimum temperature of 15.3.
In its forecast for the next 24 hours beginning at 6pm on Thursday, the met office said the night temperature may fall slightly and the temperature during the day may remain unchanged across the country.
Moderate to thick fog may occur over the river basins and light to moderate fog may occur elsewhere across the country during midnight till morning, the forecast added.

The mild cold wave that is sweeping Pabna, Rajshahi, Madaripur and Jessore may spread and continue.
Night temperature may fall slightly and day temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
