A minor girl was raped by two criminals at Shah Mirpur village under Boro Uthan Union of Patiya upazila in Chittagong. The victim’s family filed a case in this connection on Tuesday, three days after the girl was violated early Sunday. Family sources claimed two known criminals of the area — Didar, 22 and Solaiman, 23 — raped the girl of class IV at 2:00am on Sunday when she went out of the house to go to the bathroom.
Chairman of Boro Uthan Union Parishad Didarul Alam Chowdhury told The Daily Star that the two forcible took the girl to a nearby shop and raped her there.
They also recorded the act by mobile phone and disseminated the clips in the area through Bluetooth, he added.
However, as her family is very poor they did not dare file a case in this connection, the chairman said, adding, “I came to know of the matter on Tuesday when I visited the village and handed over Didar and one Forkhan, who assisted in disseminating the video clips, to police.”
The girl is undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital, the chairman said.
Contacted, Mohiuddin Mahmud, officer-in-charge (OC) of Karnaphuli Police Station, said the victim’s father filed a case accusing five persons including Didar, Solaiman and Forkan.
