A mob beat up two women mistaking them as child traffickers in the capital’s Dania yesterday.
While Firoza Begum, 50, and Rahima Begum, 32, were talking to a boy at noon, local people beat them up.
On information, police rescued the women and admitted them to a local hospital.
Firoza and Rahima claimed that they came to the place from Hasnabad and South Keraniganj area and asked the boy for identifying a house where Firoza’s daughter works as a domestic help.
Sub-Inspector Mobin Ahmed Bhuiyan of Kadamtoli Police Station said their primary investigation found that the women were not child traffickers.
