Subachan Natya Sangsad staged its popular Mohajoner Nao at the Experimental Theatre Hall on Saturday before going to South Korea to participate at the Keochang International Theatre Festival.
Shakoor Majid’s play Mohajoner Nao is a biographical sketch of the legendary baul Shah Abdul Karim. The well-composed production, directed by Sudip Chakroborty, attracts the viewers’ attention for its production design, actors’ performance, choreography and spectacular light.
‘We are very excited and bringing a little change in the form of presenting the drama since it will be staged open air during the festival,’ Sudip Chakrobortytold the New Age.
The troupe also organised a press conference on Sunday at the seminar room of Shilpakala Academy.
Theatre leaders including Liaquat Ali Lucky, Jhuna Chowdhury, Aktaruzzaman, Ahmned Gias and Shah Alam Dulal were present at the conference.
Two shows of Mohajoner Nao will be staged on August 9 and on the following day at the Sun Theatre Hall, venue for the foreign troupes at the festival.
Two hundred theatre productions will be staged by 55 troupes and 47 organisations from 12 countries in the festival, which will continue from July 27 to July 15 at the Xiaochong.
Nineteen-member troupe led by Jhuna Chowdhury, general secretary of Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation, and Ahmed Gias, chief of Subachan, left Dhaka this morning.
