Rebel footballers of the Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited returned to the pre-season training camp on Thursday after getting an assurance from the officials.
Mohammedan, who started the pre-season camp last month, could not resume training after the Eid-ul-Azha break as the players refused to attend the camp without settling their financial issues.
The top officials of the Motijheel-based outfit informed that they will give 80 percent money before completing the registration of players.
‘The players joined the camp after they got assurance from us. We will give them 80 percent money before completing the registration formalities and rest of the money will be paid on a monthly basis,’ Mohammedan football team manager Amirul Islam Babu said on Thursday.
‘Most of the players got 50 to 60 percent wages and we will pay rest of the promised money as early as possible,’ he added.
After getting the assurance the players decided to withdraw the boycott and join the camp.
‘We joined the camp after getting financial assurance from the officials as they promised us that they will pay 80 percent wages before participating in the players’ registration,’ said Zahid Hasan Ameli, the national team striker who returned to Mohammedan from Sheikh Russell KC.
Mohammedan coach Saiful Bari, who had guided the black and white outfit in the last season, said that he started the camp on Thursday with 16 players.
‘We got 16 footballers, including Nigerian Bayback, in the training camp. Goalkeeper Mamun Khan, Arup Baidya and Towhidul Alam Sabuj did not attend the camp due to some personal reasons,’ said Saiful Bari, who is yet to sign a contract with Mohammedan as coach for the next season.
