Mohammedan winning

Title contenders Dhaka Moha-mmedan continued their winning spree in the Citycell Bangladesh League edging past Rahmatganj 1-0 amid poor refereeing at the Kamalapur Stadium on Wednesday.
It was the sixth successive win for Mohammedan, who lead the points table with maximum 18 points. Dhaka Abahani also have equal 18 points, but Mohammedan remained at the top on goal difference. While Rahmatganj have collected just one point from the same number of encounters.
Midfielder Mamunul Islam struck the all-important goal in the 35th minute.
Rahmatganj earlier, were disallowed a goal in the 10th minute of the match when assistant referee Mahbubur Rahman imposed the questionable ‘Vision Obstacle’ rule, denying the Old Dhaka outfit a deserving lead.
The incident immediately provoked a series of pushes and chokes among the players leading to a seven-minute discontinuation.
Mohammedan ruled the proceedings with three-pronged attack formed with Nigerian Bukola, Emily and Komol and midfielder Mamunul Islam led the charges behind them.
Rahmatganj’s Ugandan forward Idris Kasirye and his Nigerian partner Onynkaro Felix did not have enough firepower to unsettle the black-and-white defence.
Polishing off the initial Mohammedan onslaughts, Rahmatganj rocked their illustrious opponents and scored a goal in the 10th minute only to be stunned by the controversial verdict of the assistant referee.
Defender Anisul Alam Sweet’s fierce right footer from about 20-yards entered the Mohammedan net after Pashobon teed-off a corner to him from the left-flank flag. The linesman raised his flag declaring Mohammedan keeper Aminul’s vision was disturbed.
Meanwhile, Rahmatganj goalkeeper Arifuzzaman Himel’s blunder allowed Mohammedan to take the lead. Himel was hesitating to come forward to clear the long ball of Mamunul and was deceived with a diagonal run by Mohammedan forward Emily as the ball dipped in between them into the left hand post.
Himel, however, saved his team in the 52nd minute punching away a vicious Mamunul shot from 20 yards for a corner. Mamunul also saw his curving effort from a similar distance miss the side post by a whisker in the 76th minute.
Komol, elevated in the 70th minute to partner Emily upfront after Bukola was substituted, wasted two chances in the 79th and 87th minutes respectively.
On the first occasion, his shot off Hasan al Mamun cutback was too weak to disturb Himel, who punched the ball to safety and took control of the headed rebound on the other occasion.
