A woman and her two children were burnt to death when a fire broke out at their house at Panchpukuria village in Fatikchhari upazila of Chittagong early yesterday.
The deceased are Sumi Nath, 25, wife of Milan Nath, an expatriate in Dubai; their daughter Barsha Nath, 3, and one-and-a-half-year-old son Shrabon Nath.Quoting the other members of the family, Fatikchhari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan said the fire, originating from the kitchen, soon engulfed the thatched house while they were asleep.
As the house was in an isolated area, no neighbour could come to douse the fire, he said, adding that the house was totally gutted.
