A mother and her two children died as she jumped under a train with her four kids in Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj yesterday morning. The two others sustained severe injuries.
The dead are Ferdausi Akhter, 35, her six-year-old son Jibon and eight-year-old daughter Bonya.
Ferdausi threw herself along with two daughters and two sons under the Sylhet-bound Surma Mail from Dhaka when the train was crossing Shahpur Rail Station around 7:00am.
Ferdausi, Jibon and Bonya died on the spot while her two other children– Shaon and Jharna– were injured severely. They were admitted to Madhabpur Upazila Health Complex.
The bodies were sent to Habiganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
Ferdausi was the wife of Jilon Miah, of Sultanpur village under Madhabpur upazila. Jilon is an expatriate in Saudi Arabia.
Monwar Hossain, railway police-in-charge at Shahpur, said family feud might be the reason behind the suicide.
An unnatural death case was filed in this connection, he said.
