Former Bangladesh batsman Mazharul Hoque Mridul was laid to rest in eternal peace at the Mashdair graveyard in Narayanganj on Thursday after he passed away following a cardiac arrest while playing badminton a day earlier.
His Namaz-e-Janaza was attended by Bangladesh Cricket Board director Gazi Ashraf Hossain, former captain and selector Faruque Ahmed, former cricketer and umpire Enamul Haque Moni along with other cricket officials and organisers.
The 32-year-old cricketer played for the national team in a one-day international against Australia in 2002.
Mridul had previously served as an assistant manager at the BCB and was considered in many quarters as a talented batsman. He topped the batting charts for Bangladesh A with 451 runs in the Busta Cup in 2001-02, a domestic first class tournament in the West Indies.
Mridul also appeared in 27 first-class matches in his career and made 1,316 runs including two centuries and four half-centuries.
