Mohammedan Sporting Club shared the points with Brothers Union in a goalless draw in the Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday.
The black and white outfit dominated the match but failed to utilise the scoring opportunities that came their way. The draw dealt a severe blow to Mohammedan’s hopes of finishing in third place as they remained fourth with 42 points from 26 matches, one point behind Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra, who have a game in hand
Brothers, on the other hand, confirmed their fifth position with 38 points from same number of matches.
In the very first minute of the game Arup Kumar Baddya spoiled an easy chance when his powerful shot from the edge of the box went wide.
Just two minutes into the second half Mohammedan’s strikers Wahed Ahmed and Towhidul Alam Sabuj both failed to connect a neat cross from Arup.
Brothers keeper Sujan Chowdhury produced a great save to deny Mezbabul Haque Manik, who attempted a left-footer from the six-yard box.
Tapu Barman wasted the golden chance of the match in the 71st minute when the defender played one-two with Wahed to enter box only to see his chipped effort go inches wide of the post.
