Mohammedan Sporting Club clinched the Dhaka Premier Division Women’s Cricket League title when they defeated arch-rivals Abahani Limited by 10 runs at the BKSP on Friday. Skipper Salma Khatun led Mohammedan from the front grabbing 5-14 in her 10 overs, which helped the Black-and-White outfits dismiss Abahani for a meagre 132 runs in 49.2 overs. Salma’s new-ball partner Rumana Ahmed chipped in with 2-19 before scoring 55 runs to steer the team to 122-7 in 43.3 overs when rain stopped play.
Mohammedan were later declared as winners according to Duckworth-Lewis method.
Sharmin Akter scored highest 47 runs for Ababhani while Bristi Roy claimed 3-19.
This was Mohammedan’s 10th win in as many matches, meaning Abahani, who were condemned to their third defeat, cannot overtake them with just one game left.
