Both Muktijoddha Sangsad and Feni Soccer Club drew their third consecutive game in the Nitol Tata Bangladesh Premier League as the two sides played out a 1-1 draw at Bangabandhu National Stadium on Wednesday. Courtesy the draw, Muktijoddha now have 12 points from eight matches, the same tally as Sheikh Russell KC but the latter are third in the standings due to a better goal difference.
Soccer Club, on the contrary, are second from bottom in the ten-team table with just four points from eight matches. They are the only side in the top flight who are yet to register a win.
Nigerian forward Agbulu Inalegwu put Muktijoddha ahead in the 32nd minute. The Soccer Club goalkeeper punched away a volley from Nigerian Nkwocha Kingsley but Inalegwu made no mistake sending the rebounder home through a close-range header.
Soccer Club though equalised five minutes later through forward Akbar Hossain who headed home from an Ali Hasan corner.
The Muktijoddha midfield created several opportunities throughout the game but the wastefulness of Kingsley meant they remained winless in three matches.
Meanwhile, in the second match of the day, a late goal from Guinean striker Ismail Bangoura sealed three points for Team BJMC against Chittagong Abahani.
Bangoura headed home from a brilliant free-kick taken by substitute midfielder Abdullah Parvez a few minutes before the final whistle to send BJMC sixth with 10 points from seven matches.
Chittagong Abahani on the other hand stayed bottom with four points from eight matches, the same as Soccer Club, who are ahead courtesy goal difference.
