A number of revolting clubs against the current committee of the Bangladesh Hockey Federation, led by Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited, formed the Hockey Players and Clubs’ Unity Forum on Monday in order to resolve the prevailing situation of hockey.
The forum issued a written statement jointly signed by Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan, director in-charge of Mohammedan and Russell Khan Bappi, president of the Hockey Players’ Welfare Association where they announced a number of programmes.
The forum revealed their upcoming activities that include the submission of a memorandum, wearing black badges and a silent protest.
The rebellious clubs on behalf of the forum are expected to send a memorandum to Air Marshall Enamul Bari, president of hockey’s governing body today.
The newly-formed forum organisers said that their stance was against the current executive committee of the BHF and their illegal activities.
The forum organisers will hold a silent protest wearing black badges on November 21 at the Maulana Bhashani Hockey Stadium which will end at the Bangabandhu National Stadium three days later.
Meanwhile, not a single club are yet to complete their transfer formalities in the ongoing inter-club player transfer as the BHF deferred the closing date to November 21 instead of today due to the participation of BKSP students in a domestic tournament in India.
Some of the clubs will form their team with the youth players of BKSP so the BHF has extended the closing date by two days.
