Mohammedan Sporting Club and Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society shared the points in a drab goalless draw in their Bangladesh Premier League match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Wednesday. The scheduled second match of the day between Sheikh Russell Krira Chakra and Team BJMC was postponed due to unplayable condition of the field The match will be held today at 6:00pm.
It was Rahmatganj’s third consecutive draw that kept them on the fifth position of the table with 10 points from eight matches, two points clear of Mohammedan, who moved to the sixth position from the same number of outings.
Rahmatganj lost a good chance to register their third win against a 10-man Mohammedan.
Mohammedan midfielder Anik Hossain was shown a straight red card in the 41st minute for a dangerous tackle on Rahmatganj forward Rashedul Islam Shuvo Shuvo just outside the box.
Rahmatganj had a good chance to score in the 22nd minute but Mohammedan defender Muntu Sheikh made a brilliant sliding clearance to deny Shuvo.
Rahmatganj’s Guinean forward Ismail Bangoura wasted another scoring opportunity against his former club in the 51st minute following a cross of Nigerian attacking partner Jatta Mustapha.
